Which has become one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the last decade.
Born in Los Angeles, Ca, his family having a great musical background going all the way back to both his grandparents, in both sides of the family, had a great effect on Leonardo. Always having different genres of music being played around him from both the American and International markets, helped him create his unique style of drumming. He has been quoted saying, "Music, like blood, literally runs through my veins." Following his father on his performances prior to picking up a pair of sticks, he learned to play the drums by ear and by the age of 11 he was given his first set of drums. He taught himself how to play songs that his father would play with his bands before Los Pozos and songs his mother would sing and play for him at home on the family radio.
While attending John Marshall High School, he participated in the music programs that the school offered. There he discovered more than what the radio and music albums taught him. He learned to read and write different genres of music with the schools jazz ensemble, concert band, and marching band taught by Mr. Paul Bailey. Joining the schools marching band, as the drum-line leader, he built up his hand speed and technical skills. He also joined the drama class and participated in many school assemblies. His teacher Mrs. Carolyn L. McKnight helped him discover his talent in acting which has made him the very loving and cheerful entertainer Los Angeles has to offer today. Mrs. Carolyn L. McKnight had a major impact on his life which helped him be successful today. He credits her with giving him the belief in true expression with both music and acting. After high school he was accepted to The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles where he received his bachelor of science degree in interactive media design. There he learned skills in video production, audio production, graphic design, web design and animation.
Leonardo likes to spend his off time with his family going on trips or supporting his Los Angeles sports teams, mainly the Kings and the Dodgers. His other activities include, graphic design, video production, audio production, web design, animation, painting, raising dogs, playing video games, movies, sports, theme parks and ATVs, just to name a few. Leonardo maintains his own lifestyle/music/design website at LeoPozos.com and has been involved with musical side projects. He truly is a modern day extreme musician/designer.
